Curved Edge Hires First Intern/Part-time Employee! May 2011
First question – Why Intern slash part-time employee, you might ask? Because Christie Elwin brings a wealth of experience to the Curved Edge Consulting team and is not like a traditional intern.
Christie is a graduate student working on a master’s degree in public relations at the University of Tennessee. She worked for local production house Jupiter Entertainment for six years prior to jumping in as a full-time graduate student. Christie also holds a graduate assistantship at the Center for International Education, where she assists with international student orientation and advising. This is a great fit for a gal from down under as she is originally from Adelaide, Australia.
As creative client coordinator for Curved Edge, Christie does a lot of writing, social media, research and all round client support. “I feel very lucky to have Christie on my team. She is an undeniable asset,” states Cheryl Ball, president.
Curved Edge Consulting is a woman owned small business specializing in the full scope of marketing communications through a virtual firm of communications professionals.
Curved Edge Consulting Team Selected for City of Knoxville Curbside Recycling Project November 2010
The City of Knoxville plans to launch curbside recycling to residents in 2011 and sent out an RFP for the marketing component of the program. Curved Edge responded as this was not only a topic near and dear to Cheryl Ball’s heart personally, but it also appeared to be a great opportunity for a small firm.
In November, the City selected the Curved Edge Team to lead the marketing efforts for this exciting project. The team consisted of Cheryl Ball, president of Curved Edge; Andrea Truan of Andrea Truan Graphic Design and Illustration; Natalie Starr and Ted Siegler of DSM Environmental; as well as Brian Ford and Dominic Moore with Elastic Pictures. “In addition to a creative team second to none, I was able to bring the industry expertise of DSM Environmental to the project. Their world-wide experience with garbage and recycling, coupled with their research in the Knoxville marketplace, made them a natural fit for our team,” said Ball.
The City’s curbside program will launch in the ladder half of 2011 with the marketing campaign starting early in the year. Cheryl also stated, “I am very proud to have this opportunity to work with David Brace and his team in the Public Service Department, and I am so excited to have this opportunity for our city to advance waste reduction.”
